Cram Co., Inc. story dates back to 1867, when George Cram, after serving two years in the Union Army during the Civil War, joined his uncle's business of making city and state maps. Douthit began working for the Cram Company as a School Sales Field Manager in 1939 becoming President and major share holder in 1966. Upon his retirement in 1978, his eldest son, William, took over as President, while his youngest son, Jay, became Vice-President. Both sons maintain these positions today.
