The crystal sphere allows the clearest light to shine through and illuminate the finely detailed map. Using Columbus trademarked Duo map the globe shows the countries in contrasting colors when it is not illuminated. When the light is turned on the globe also shows physical relief. The globe with base stands 47 inches tall.
